Worthing Minors, Hill Barn Park, 14th June 2009
The boys were pitched in group C along with :
Horley Town
Rustington Otters
Hurst Hornets
Upper Beeding
Worthing Minors Athletic
Worthing Rebels Youth B
MPW 0 : 0 Worthing Minors
Reasonable start, avoiding the traditional MPW first-match sleepiness. Unlucky not to win, having the best chances and the majority of possession
MPW 1 : 0 Hurst Hornets
We sneaked a deserved win against our promoted B division rivals through Ad Chilcott's (surprisingly) left foot finish. MPW had much the better of the game and deserved the win
Rustington Otters 0 : 0 MPW
Despite having probably 75% of the possession, we failed to convert any of the numerous chances we had and saw this as 2 points dropped.
MPW 1 : 0 Worthing Rebels Youth
Another excellent team performance and three points, thanks to Jake Chantlers cool finish.
MPW 1 : 0 Upper Beeding
At the time, this was the crunch game of the qualifying stages, MPW and UB vying for 2nd place. The best move of the match was finished off by Matt Blunden, giving Place the three points.
Horley Town 0 : 0 MPW
This was an excellent perfomace against Mid Sussex A division Horley, who became very frustrated when MPW matched their physicality. Chances were even and a draw was a fair result
Place should be proud to have got through to the quarter finals without losing a game, and indeed without conceding a goal.
Quarter Final
Lancing Rangers 1 : 0 MPW
Our poorest performance of the day saw Rangers take this game with a solitary goal in the first half, from a long-range strike that Wills Brimacombe was unucky not to parry wide. A slightly disappointing end to an excellent day's football, in which all the boys played a significant part. Well done to :
Wills Brimacombe
Matt Blunden
James Atkins
Stuart Ellmer
Jake Chantler
Jack Bishop
